Update Office LTSC 2024 Preview to Office LTSC 2024

The information in this article is only for customers who deployed Office LTSC 2024 Preview.
Warning
The client activation keys used in the Office LTSC 2024 Preview program expire on January 13th, 2025. After that time, Office LTSC 2024 Preview will be in reduced functionality mode.
What is reduced functionality mode?
In reduced functionality mode, Microsoft 365 Apps remains installed on the device, but users can only view and print their documents. All features for editing or creating new documents are disabled, and the user sees a message similar to this one:
The user can then choose one of the available options to reactivate Microsoft 365 Apps on that computer.
If a user doesn't have a license and tries to use Microsoft 365 Apps on an installed computer, the apps operate in reduced functionality mode. Also, the user is prompted to sign in and activate every time they open an app, such as Word or Excel.
If you're a volume licensed customer that's licensed for Office LTSC 2024 and you want to update your Office LTSC 2024 Preview installation, you don't need to uninstall Office LTSC 2024 Preview. You just need to activate the preview installation in one of the following ways to get Office LTSC 2024:
- Key Management Service (KMS) for Office on Windows
- Multiple Activation Key (MAK) for Office on Windows
- Volume License (VL) Serializer for Office on a Mac
MAK activation steps for Office on Windows
If you activate Office by using MAK, do the following steps to update Office LTSC 2024 Preview to Office LTSC 2024.
- Sign in to the Microsoft 365 admin center and go to > Billing > Your products > Volume licensing > Downloads & Keys to get your MAK client activation keys for Office LTSC 2024.
- Make sure that you’re using at least Version 2408 of Office LTSC 2024 Preview. To check your version, open Word, and go to File > Account. Under the About Word section, you’ll see the version and build number.
- Run the ospp.vbs script on each computer to install and activate your MAK client activation key using the commands below.
Replace your key with your MAK client activation key. You will need to restart any Office apps for these changes to take effect.
